British police are offering a €24,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of 21-year-old Thomas Dures, believed to be residing in Spain. Dures is wanted in connection with the murder of a teenager in Lancashire, and authorities are urging the expat community in Spain to assist in his capture.

Connection to Murder Case in Lancashire

The Tragic Death of Matthew Daulby

In July 2023, 19-year-old Matthew Daulby was fatally stabbed on Railway Road in Ormskirk, Lancashire. The tragic incident shocked the community, and while Henry Houghton was convicted and jailed for life for the murder in March 2024, authorities are still searching for Dures, who is believed to have fled the UK.

The Search for Thomas Dures

Lancashire Police, in partnership with the National Crime Agency (NCA), have been looking for Dures for over a year. The police are appealing for public assistance, particularly from those living in or visiting Spain, where Dures is believed to be hiding.

According to Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) Andy Fallows, “Dures has been aware that my officers want to speak to him, but despite our efforts, he remains at large. We believe it’s time for him to do the right thing and turn himself in.”

€24,000 Reward for Information Leading to Arrest

To incentivize the public, a €24,000 (£20,000) reward has been offered for any information that leads directly to the arrest of Dures. The reward, provided by Crimestoppers and Lancashire Police, highlights the seriousness of the case and the ongoing search efforts.

The reward is exclusively available to those who provide information through Crimestoppers, either online or via their phone line at 0800 555 111.

An Appeal to the Expat Community in Spain

Authorities are specifically appealing to British expats living in Spain, as well as holidaymakers, to be on the lookout for Dures. Neil Keeping, NCA Regional Manager in Spain, said, “Dures has known links to Spain and could be living anywhere in the country.”

Both the NCA and Lancashire Police are working closely with Spanish authorities to locate Dures and encourage anyone with information to come forward.

A Family’s Plea for Closure

Matthew Daulby’s parents, Angela and Gary, have also issued a heartfelt plea to the public. They shared the unimaginable pain they have endured since their son’s murder, stating, “We need the public’s help to find Thomas Dures. We urge someone out there to help us bring him to justice.”

The Daulby family continues to seek answers and closure, and the capture of Dures is a crucial step toward justice for Matthew.

How to Help

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crimestoppers immediately. The charity ensures complete anonymity for those who come forward, making it a safe option for individuals who may have crucial information regarding Dures’ whereabouts.

With the cooperation of both UK and Spanish authorities, there is hope that Dures will be located and brought to justice, providing the Daulby family with the answers they so desperately seek.
