Pedro Pascal, Bear Grylls, and former Disney CEO Bob Chapek may be called to testify in Gina Carano’s legal action against Disney. Carano has listed them among potential witnesses in her case, accusing Disney of violating California labor law by terminating her from “The Mandalorian” due to her personal views.
In 2021, Disney announced that Carano would not return to the show following her controversial social media posts. These posts included comparisons of American right-wing supporters to Jews during the Holocaust, questioning the results of the 2020 election, and mocking the use of pronouns for supporting transgender individuals.
Funded by Elon Musk and filed in February, Carano’s lawsuit alleges that Disney wrongfully terminated her for her views, which she claims are protected by the First Amendment. Last week, US District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett denied Disney’s motion to dismiss the case, ruling that Disney’s First Amendment defenses did not exempt the company from California’s anti-discrimination laws. A trial date has been proposed for September 25, 2025, with both parties expected to present their cases beforehand.
